Our Doctors

A Step Up’s team is dedicated to providing your pets with top-tier care.

Randolph S. Stepusin, DVM

President and CEO of A Step Up Veterinary Clinic

Dr. Stepusin was born and raised in southwest Pennsylvania and was a student in Peters Township School District from kindergarten through high school. He moved to Lexington, Kentucky while enrolled at the University of Kentucky for his undergraduate degree. In 2009, he moved to Auburn, Alabama. While there, he completed his veterinary degree at Auburn University’s School of Veterinary Medicine.

While in Auburn, he met his future wife, Dr. Karalie S. Miller. Dr. Miller was not initially amused by Dr. Stepusin, but after much wooing, decided they were what each desired most in this world. A courtship of approximately 5 years ensued and they were married in October 2014.

After graduating from school, they moved back to Pittsburgh to begin practicing veterinary medicine. Dr. Stepusin in conjunction with his wife and father, Dr. John R. Stepusin, began planning the construction of this veterinary facility in January 2014.

They have two children as well as a dog, Vega, and a cat, Meowser.

Karalie Miller, DVM

Co-Owner of A Step Up Veterinary Clinic

Dr. Karalie S. Miller grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and attended Auburn University’s School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Miller’s spirit animal is Winnie the Pooh in that she likes rabbits and honey. Also, her best childhood friend was named Christopher Robin.

Dr. Miller has an interest in dermatology, and her two children, Holden and Minna. She dislikes the taste of stamps and finds them superfluous anyway.

Kara L. Kitchen, DVM

Veterinarian

Kara joined the team at A Step Up in 2017. She is a Bethel Park native and a graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College.

Kara was drawn to the field of veterinary medicine at a young age thanks to the many family pets that enriched her childhood. She and her husband currently share their couch with two retired racing greyhounds, Tango and Minnie Mouse.

Outside of the clinic Kara enjoys listening to audiobooks, collecting nail polish, and relaxing with friends and family.

Jonathan Griffith, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Griffith graduated from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2021. He only sometimes completes his homework, thus very little is known about him. It is suspected that in his free time he enjoys binging episodes of Finding Bigfoot and frequenting live tapings of the Antiques Roadshow.
